Leander Adrian Paes was born in Goa on 17th June 1973, Leander Paes’ mother and father are both former players. Leander’s father is a retired hockey player.

Leander’s father was part of the Indian hockey team that won the bronze medal in the 1972 Munich Olympics. Leander’s mother Jennifer Pace is a former basketball player. He led the Indian basketball team in 1982

Childhood Memories Of Leander Adrian Paes:

Leander Pace spent his childhood in Calcutta. He was educated at the famous Martiniye School in Calcutta. He also completed his higher education at St. Xavier’s College, University of Calcutta. Britannia Amritraj in Madras by Leander Pace in 1985.

Sports Career Of Leander Adrian Paes:

He joined the Tennis Academy and started his tennis career from here. When he won the Junior Wimbledon tournament in 1990, he was the top seed in the junior category. From there he started getting fame. Paes is considered one of the best doubles tennis players in the world, having won eight Grand Slam titles in men’s doubles and ten Grand Slam titles in mixed doubles. Leander Paes also holds the distinction of being the oldest to win an Andeslam title.

In addition to winning the Andeslam  title, Paes also went on to win the men’s singles bronze medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Leander Paes is the only Indian player and the only tennis player in the world to have participated in six consecutive Olympic events between 1992 and 2012. He paired up with Mahesh Bhupathi and won many matches. Leander Paes has won many medals in other competitions. Paes has also captained India for many years in the Davis Cup. After winning Wimbledon in 2010, Leander Paes became the second-ranked player behind Rod Laver.

In the year 2010, Leander Paes joined the training institute ‘Olympic Gold Quest’, which trains and encourages Indian athletes to win medals in Olympic competitions and produces more quality athletes.

Paes, a successful Indian tennis player, has been honored with the ‘Arjuna Award’ in 1990, the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award’ in 1996-17 and the ‘Padma Shri’ in 2001. In addition, he has won 1 bronze medal in the 1996 Olympic Games held at Atlanta, 5 gold medals and 2 bronze medal at the Delhi-based Commonwealth Games in 2010
